Porsche 718 Boxster Arctic Grey
For years, the Porsche Boxster has sometimes been called a “poor” version of the 911. Wrongly – anyone who has had the opportunity to sit in its seat knows that its compact dimensions, low unladen weight of just 1,350 kg and perfect distribution of the center of gravity give unprecedented handling precision. In the latest version of the 718, the body shines in Arctic Grey paint, and the contrasting soft red roof catches the eye even from a distance. When it’s folded down – which can be done electrically up to 50 km/h – the cabin is filled with the snarling sound of the 2-liter, 300-horsepower boxer, a multiple “Engine of the Year” award winner.
The sporty character is underscored by 20-inch Carrera S rims painted in the body color by Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur, as are the high-gloss black components of the SportDesign package and the lacquered anti-roll bars. At the rear, you won’t find the model designation anymore – it was deliberately removed so that nothing interferes with the roadster’s clean lines – but instead the black sports exhaust tips, also from Exclusive Manufaktur, catch the eye.
The interior captivates with an elegant two-tone leather finish: deep black and Bordeaux Red. The driver holds the GT Sport‘s bottom-flattened steering wheel in his or her hands, sitting in sport seats with two-way electric adjustment and resting his or her feet on aluminum pedals with a sporty design. Waiting at hand is a dual-clutch PDK transmission that makes the sprint to 100 in just over four seconds, with each gear ratio coming in at racing speed.
Technology takes care of safety and convenience: LED headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) illuminate corners, Lane Change Assist discreetly warns of cars in your blind spot, and ParkAssist with rearview camera helps you maneuver even in the tightest streets. Power Steering Plus reduces the force required to turn the steering wheel at low speeds, and an enlarged 64-liter tank extends range for longer trips out of town. There’s plenty of entertainment on board, too – the BOSE® Surround Sound System and Apple CarPlay make sure every trip sounds as good as it drives.
