Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is an American “muscle car” with more than 700hp! This is more than 200 hp more than the “standard” versions of this model with V8 engines. Thanks to its enormous power and torque reaching almost 900Nm (881Nm to be exact), the American legend accelerates to 100km/h in about 3.7s while really making a lot of noise!
European cars have accustomed us to being able to afford relatively much in them and to quickly switch the car to the most extreme and sporty settings. In the case of the Challenger, it’s different – “Track mode” refers to a mode that’s only real use is on the track. The Hellcat then simply becomes too aggressive to drive on public roads! That’s the whole point of its charm, driving this car you have to keep in mind all the time that you are dealing with a 700+ horsepower, almost 2-ton muscle car that is exclusively rear-wheel drive.
The Hellcat has a great many individual settings at its disposal, including: two “power” modes – 500hp and 700hp, adjusting the sensitivity of traction control and adjusting the “firmness” of the suspension. Engineers have also thought about the issue of appropriate use of power during the launch procedure, thanks to which the Challenger, contrary to appearances, efficiently catapults forward. However, the Dodge will also cope with a longer route, providing pleasant travel conditions thanks to, among other things, comfortable leather seats and a great-sounding Harman Kardon audio system. The car’s character is also well matched by the 8-speed ZF transmission, which we know from many BMW models. The Hellcat’s handling has also been improved over weaker versions with V8 engines.
The Dodge Challenger Hellcat is a car that is extremely rare in Europe, due to the emission standards in force in our country or purely rational issues, such as a sizable appetite for fuel or the size of the vehicle. However, it will provide us with more excitement than many European sports cars due to its great sound and huge power transferred exclusively to the rear axle. The Challenger will give us plenty of adrenaline, and as long as we don’t switch it to track mode, traction control will help in tricky situations.
