The BMW X5 is the first SUV in the BMW range, which made its market debut in 1999. The current-generation X5 with the code G05 available in our offer is a post-lifitng model with the 30d designation. In BMW’s model range, the X5 ranks above the BMW X3 and below the BMW X7. Also available is a coupe variant, the BMW X6. The X5 competes with cars such as the Audi Q7, Mercedes GLE, Volkswagen Touareg and the Porsche Cayenne. Going back to the term SUV – BMW itself refers to this modelas SAV – Sport Activity Vehicle. And it’s hard to deny them right, the car impressively presents its sporty character, also the technical parameters are not quite “civilian”, as you will see below.

The most noticeable change in the facelift occurred at the front of the vehicle, where the design of the headlights and front bumper has become “sharper.” The car now looks more aggressive.
The dual grille at the front has gained a new feature—“illuminated kidney grilles”.“Iconic Glow,”which our test vehicle is equipped with. Additionally, the interior has been “updated” just like in all new BMW models.
Along with the facelift, in line with current automotive trends, every version of the “standard” BMW X5 has been equipped with a mild hybrid system featuring 48-volt technology, which provides an additional 12KM and 20 Nm when needed. The 30d version currently offers 333 KM and 670 Nm, which, combined with the 8-speed ZF automatic transmission, translates to outstanding responsiveness and dynamics (5.7 s to 100 km/h). Interestingly, in the facelifted version, the lineup now consists exclusively of six-cylinder and eight-cylinder engines. In this example, you can see how the Munich-based manufacturer, perfectly combined the advantages of electric drive with larger capacity units. By doing so, he also underscored the X5 model’s high place in BMW’s hierarchy.

Our test vehicle is equipped with accessories that give the X5 an even more aggressive look. These include the M Pro Sport Package, the M Sport Package, and 22-inch M Double-Spoke 742 aluminum wheels. These upgrades complement the Carbon M black paint finish perfectly. In terms of driving dynamics, the adaptive suspension and sport brake system are major advantages. Adaptive LED headlights also enhance driving safety. The optional Harman Kardon Surround Sound system, in turn, adds to the driving pleasure. Inside, the center console is dominated by the multimedia system; the touchscreen displays all necessary information, including navigation data, and the entire system can also be controlled via the iDrive controller or buttons on the steering wheel.

Undoubtedly, more driving experience will provide a variant of the BMW X5M, but during longer trips it is the 30d version that will impress with excellent interior soundproofing, plenty of space (the trunk has as much as 650 liters), low fuel consumption and a huge range. Performance is still excellent when needed, and you’ll even find a launch procedure on board. It’s an interesting alternative for longer trips to the BMW 5 Series or Mercedes E-Class.

The BMW X5 perfectly combines the features of a premium SUV and family practicality. It is a complete proposition that will work in any situation. It looks great, handles well, is practical, exemplarily made and you can even drive it off-road on light terrain. However, it is worth remembering that this is not an off-road car. It’s no wonder that in the age of SUVs, the X5 is so high in the sales rankings of premium cars. The Munich-based manufacturer, taking care of its customers and fine-tuning the design for more than 20 years, has created a product close to perfection.
