Ferrari, in line with the latest trends, for the 296 GTB model (where 296 in the model name stands for capacity and number of cylinders, while GTB stands for Gran Turismo Berlinetta) has opted for a plug-in hybrid – a V6 engine and an electric motor. Although it’s no longer a V8 unit, the total power output is a whopping 830 hp, which is more than the F8 Tributo model, and 740 Nm! It is worth noting that the 296 draws solutions straight from the top model SF90.

When driving around town, we can use electric-only driving mode (a range of about 20-25km) or use hybrid mode, which effectively switches operation between the combustion engine and electric motor.

Everything changes when you switch with E-Manettino car into “Performance“. The whole car stiffens up and takes on a much sportier characteristic, which will come in handy on winding roads – the 296 suspension remains decent enough that you won’t feel any discomfort even on slightly uneven pavement. The last mode that is “Qualify” is the crudest mode of all available – in it the internal combustion engine does not recharge the battery. The 296 GTB is rear-wheel drive only, but provides excellent traction both under acceleration and in corners. This is evidenced by the excellent results of: 2.9s to 100km/h and 7.3s to 200 km/h.
