The Ferrari 296 GTB is the first six-cylinder model bearing the brand’s logo. Car uses the solutions of the SF90 Stradale super-hybrid. The manufacturer assures that it matches in power and performance, the eight-cylinder F8 Tributo. Ferrari, in accordance with the latest trends, in the case of the 296 GTB model (where 296 in the model name stands for capacity and number of cylinders, while GTB stands for Gran Turismo Berlinetta) has relied on a plug-in hybrid – a V6 engine and an electric motor.

Technical parameters

Although it is no longer a V8 unit, the total power is as much as 830 hp, which is more than the F8 Tributo model, and 740 Nm! It is worth noting that the 296 draws solutions straight from the top-of-the-line SF90 model. From the outside, the supercar from Italy perfectly blends modern lines with Ferrari’s traditional elements, especially in the classic configuration we presented in Rosso Corsa color and chrome rims.

Inside, our copy features a superbly impressive optional steering wheel with carbon elements and LED lights signaling the optimal moment to shift gears. When driving around town, we can use electric-only driving mode (a range of about 20-25km) or use hybrid mode, which effectively switches operation between the combustion engine and electric motor. Everything changes when you switch the car into “Performance” mode via E-Manettino.

The whole car stiffens up and takes on a much sportier characteristic, which will come in handy on winding roads – the 296’s suspension remains decent enough that you won’t feel any discomfort even on slightly uneven pavement. The last mode, or “Qualify,” is the steepest mode of all available – in it the combustion engine does not recharge the battery. The 296 GTB is rear-wheel drive only, but provides excellent traction both under acceleration and in corners. This is evidenced by the excellent results of: 2.9s to 100km/h and 7.3s to 200 km/h. The Ferrari 296 GTB is a must-have for all car lovers.
