Mercedes GLS 450d

The Mercedes GLS is the largest representative from the Stuttgart-based manufacturer’s SUV segment. Unlike the Mercedes G-Class, the GLS focuses on the purely practical dimension and on providing as much interior space as possible for passengers (the GLS will accommodate up to 7 people).

Our copy is a polifted version with the top diesel engine in the GLS 450d variant with the AMG visual package. What has changed in the post-lift version of the Mercedes GLS? At the front, there is a new grill with transverse ribs, a revised bumper, new rear lamps with a different LED signature.Inside, the biggest visual change is the appearance of a new steering wheel with double arms (in the case of our copy from the AMG package). In addition, the MBUX system has been updated in terms of increased processing power and improved speech recognition module. The layout of the displays has also changed. Care has also been taken for rear passengers, who can now also use voice commands. The version we are offering, designated 450d with 367hp, is the successor to the 400d, which is no longer offered in its latest variant. Interestingly, the Stuttgart-based manufacturer has also improved the GLS’s off-road capabilities. A “transparent hood” system for easier maneuvering in off-road conditions has been added, and an additional chassis cover has been used, as well as a 30mm increase in suspension travel.

The GLS450D is equipped with a nine-speed transmission that perfectly matches the nature of the car and the diesel engine. While we’re on the subject of character, it’s worth mentioning that our copy is equipped with the AMG Line package, which gives it an even more muscular look, especially when combined with the 23-inch optional wheels (that’s the same size as on our Audi RSQ8). The GLS is already very well-equipped as standard, but we made sure to make traveling in this specimen, even more enjoyable with the right add-ons.

The AMG Premium Plus equipment package provides a long list of optional extras. These include AMG package, comfort door closing, tinted windows with thermal insulation function, road sign assistant, driving safety assistance package PLUS, adaptive high beam assistant Plus, Energizing package Plus, parking package with 360-degree camera, keyless-go package, air-balance package, wireless phone charging, heated and ventilated front seats, Burmester surround sound system, panoramic roof, front seats with massage function, heads-up display, heated rear seats, and several other additional options included in the package. In addition, we selected parking heating, heated steering wheel and interior trim – anthracite oak wood – in the list of checked options. In addition, a tow hook is available.

The GLS450D is an option for those looking for a luxurious yet practical premium SUV. It is worth noting that the GLS is 5.2 meters long, making it a longer design than competing offerings such as the Audi Q7, BMW X7, Volvo XC90 and even the Bentley Bentayga! It’s an excellent choice for longer trips in complete comfort (as well as business and family trips), even with a set of 7 passengers.
